A virtual wifi space was mapped and defined physically by marking it on the pavement. The idealized ring of signal was found to be effected by many factors; material, weather, elevation etc.. The wifi space drifts out from its physical enclosure and blends with other systems within the city; transportation systems, pedestrian sidewalks etc. This exercise begins to lose relavence when understanding current advancements in wireless networking such as city wide wifi and 3G satellite internet - we are constantly connected.

Rather then studying a range of materials that would create different degrees of connectivity, I recognized the two conditions, signal - no signal. This study pushed me to develop 'dead zones' or places of contemplation that isolate all surrounding signals - closed spaces of virtual disconnection with heightened self awareness in the physical world.
